As a composer, in 2017 he provided the soundtrack for the six-part documentary series\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Wartime Crime<\/a>\u00a0for Discovery\/UKTV and the Tom Odell-directed\u00a0<\/span><\/span>How the Beatles Changed The World<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>for Netflix, also appearing in the latter film as a talking head.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Nicola Farnon….<\/h3>\n

is widely recognised as one of the classiest Jazz and Swing singers and\/or double bassists in the UK. Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Nicola Farnon has a remarkable musical pedigree, both parents being professional classical musicians and her great uncle no less than the late Robert Farnon. Originally raised classically on the cello and the piano, Nicola started singing and playing double bass in her twenties which led to a jazz career spanning 25 years (so far!).<\/span><\/p>\n

The lineup of Bassist Yolanda Charles, Nick Linnik and Hamish Balfour are familiar faces at the Ronnie Scott\u2019s Late Late show. Writing new material for a debut \u201cfusion\u201d album the band<\/div>\n
line up is renamed simply INSTRA_MENTALS – formerly (project pH Instra_mentals), this season sees the band\u2019s material separate firmly from the vocal band Project pH and dive solidly into the world of Jazz Fusion.<\/div>\n

The Djangoliers….<\/h3>\n

Taking their cue from Django Reinhardt’s war-years line-up, where Hubert Rostaing’s clarinet replaced Stephane Grapelli’s violin, The Djangoliers specialise in performing music both written and inspired by the late, great French guitarist. As well as performing many of Django’s classic arrangements and compositions such as Nuages, Swing 42 and Manoir Des Mes R\u00eaves, they also perform tunes from the more contemporary canon of the style now known as ‘Gypsy Jazz’. Expect foot-tapping rhythms and virtuosic flair as well as evocative ballads from guitarists Simon Hurley and Rob Ford with Zak Barrett on Clarinet and Andy Staples on Double Bass.<\/span><\/p>\n

known for his work with the bands\u00a0<\/span>the Aristocrats<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Asia<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>GPS<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>the Young Punx<\/a>\u00a0and the Fellowship, as well as his solo project\u00a0<\/span>Erotic Cakes<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

Guthrie will be performing a duo set with Saxophonist Zak Barrett!<\/span><\/p>\n

The Brit Funk Association features a fluid 10 piece collective of musicians, with a core of trumpet player Kenny Wellington, guitar player Breeze McKrieth and saxophonist and flautist David Baptiste of Beggar & Co and former founder members of the original Light of the World lineup, Patrick McLean saxophonist and vocalist from the original lineup of Hi Tension that recorded the first album and hit singles Hi Tension and British Hustle.<\/span><\/p>\n
